This policy clarifies expectations and emphasizes the importance of responsibility for our on-call substitutes.
Being On-Call:
- When you sign up to be an on-call substitute, you're agreeing to be available to teach if a school needs you in your designated area.
- As an on-call substitute, you're expected to be located in or near the areas you're assigned to serve during your on-call time.
- For example, if you're signed up for Bronx schools, you should be available in the Bronx during your on-call shift.
This requirement is to minimize travel time and delays for on-call subs.
- If something unexpected comes up and you can't teach on your assigned on-call day, please notify Togetherhood as soon as possible. You can do this by replying to your confirmation email or sending an email to info@togetherhood.us and/or text the Togetherhood number at (347) 835-5830.
Missing an Assignment:
If you're called to teach on an on-call day but are unavailable, there will be a few consequences:- You'll lose your on-call status for that day.
- You won't receive pay for the missed shift.
- This will count as a no-show and a $50 no-show penalty will be deducted from your following paycheck.
- You may not be eligible for future on-call opportunities until we have a chance to review your availability.
- In some cases, we may need to re-evaluate your overall standing with Togetherhood.
If you miss a second on-call assignment without advance notice or a valid reason, you will be removed as an on-call substitute, and we will re-evaluate your overall standing with Togetherhood.
We value reliable substitutes!
To support our schools and ensure smooth operations, we ask that our on-call substitutes are responsible and communicate any unavailability promptly.
