To ensure student safety, instructors are required to complete an adult-to-adult handoff at the end of every class and confirm with the designated on-site contact before leaving.
Handoff Procedures
-
Direct Handoff: Instructors must personally hand off each student to an authorized adult. This includes school staff, designated aftercare providers, or, where explicitly permitted by school policy, a parent or guardian.
-
Default Protocol: Default to handing students off to school staff unless the school’s policy explicitly authorizes handoff to parents or other adults.
-
Policy Adherence: Instructors must follow each school's specific end-of-day handoff policy. If the policy is unclear or not readily accessible, instructors must consult the site director or on-site point of contact for guidance.
-
Late Pickups: If an authorized adult does not arrive on time, instructors must notify school staff and follow the school's designated late pickup procedure. Under no circumstances should a student be left unsupervised.
Instructor Responsibilities
-
Instructors may not leave the premises until:
-
All students have been properly handed off to an authorized adult.
-
The instructor has checked in with the designated on-site contact to confirm all handoffs are complete.
-
-
In cases of frequent late pickups, instructors must report the issue to the Togetherhood team for follow-up with the school or families.
Compliance
Failure to comply with the adult-to-adult handoff policy, even once, may result in disciplinary action, up to and including removal from the Togetherhood network.
Commitment to Safety
Our top priority is ensuring every student is safe, supervised, and securely handed off at the end of each class session.
