Our dress code is created with the purpose of creating a professional yet welcoming environment that promotes safety, comfort, and inclusivity for both providers and students, while allowing for flexibility in movement and personal style.
General Guidelines:
- Professionalism:
We ask all enrichment providers to follow our business casual dress code to maintain a professional appearance in the educational setting - Comfort and Functionality:
Given the diverse range of activities (sports, arts, performing arts, etc.), attire should allow for movement and be suitable for engaging with students in various settings. - Inclusivity:
Clothing should be respectful and free of offensive imagery or language.
Specific Attire Guidelines:
- Tops:
- Acceptable: Polo shirts, blouses, t-shirts (with no offensive graphics), or sweaters.
- Not Acceptable: Crop tops, sleeveless tops (unless layered), and shirts with inappropriate slogans and imagery.
- Bottoms:
- Acceptable: Jeans, pants, or skirts/dresses that reach knee length or lower.
- Not Acceptable: Pajama pants, leggings (unless worn under appropriate length tops), and ripped or overly distressed clothing.
- Footwear:
- Acceptable: Closed-toe shoes that are comfortable for movement (sneakers, flats, boots, or supportive sandals).
- Not Acceptable: Flip-flops or shoes that pose a safety risk.
- Piercings and tattoos:
- Facial piercings should be minimal to maintain a professional appearance. Ear piercings are acceptable, but please remove visible facial piercings (e.g., nose, lip, eyebrow) while teaching.
- Face tattoos must be covered while teaching to maintain a professional appearance. Other visible tattoos are generally acceptable, but please ensure they are appropriate for a school environment.
- Sports and Physical Activities:
- When leading physical activities, providers should wear loose athletic attire that is comfortable and functional, including athletic shoes.
- Arts and Creative Classes:
- Providers in arts-related classes may wear clothing that can get messy (e.g., aprons or old t-shirts), but it should still be appropriate and tidy.
Additional Considerations:
- Weather-Appropriate Attire:
Dress appropriately for the season and weather conditions, keeping in mind the need for layers in case of temperature fluctuations. - Cultural Considerations:
Providers are encouraged to express their cultural identities through their clothing, provided it aligns with the program's values of respect and inclusivity.
Final Note:
Providers are encouraged to use their discretion and judgment in their attire, always prioritizing professionalism and the needs of their specific programming area. If in doubt, please reach out with any questions to info@togetherhood.us.
Thank you for your cooperation and commitment to creating a positive learning environment for our students!
